Summary

As Hideyoshi descends down Mount Nadera, he talks about how there is a rock and roll contest happening at the Yonezawa City Cultural Hall, and that if you win first place you'll get to go on a two-night trip to Kaminoyama Onsen. He then remarks that he and his backup band are for sure going to win the first place prize.

Hideyoshi then decides to practice his singing skills by singing "The Long and Winding Road" by The Beatles. Just as he finishes singing, someone starts clapping at his singing. This person is revealed to be Hideyoshi's friend, Hiroshi Masumura who had just arrived in Yonezawa after he boarded a limited express train from Ueno (a district in Tokyo) to Yonezawa at around noon.

After both of them catch up with each other, Hideyoshi suggests that Hiroshi should join him in the rock and roll competition. Hiroshi agrees, but asks Hideyoshi if they can play a more upbeat song. Hideyoshi agress, and says to Hiroshi that they will be playing "Twist and Shout" by The Beatles, and the two of them then continued to walk towards the town of Yonezawa.
